2023

May 2023 – above Cwmbran with beautiful views across the Severn Estuary restoring this 150 year old fieldstone dry stone wall on a steep hill – forty metres to go – A wonderful project.

February-March 2023 qualified as a professional Dry Stone Walling instructor with the DSWA in Cumbria and practicing with the DSWA Wales Branch in Ogmore, Glamorgan.

March 2023 – the wettest month – Between Usk and Chepstow come snow, rain fog and sun! Back late summer to add the coping stones and a full finish to a 35m wall

February 2023 – Taken down by a 3 ton truck in Machen, South Wales & repaired. “Looks terrific” and from a neighbour “Looks better than it did before.” Puts a smile on your face!

February 2023 – Cefn Coed, Merthyr Tydfil – a dental practice car park wall repaired with assistance from my willing helper, Joe. Its really great to be repairing/restoring these lovely period walls, over a hundred years old, rather than seeing them taken down and replaced with breeze block or worse. The response from the practice: “The work is great, thank you for completing”

Kitchen Garden design – Private client – helped by Joe. Pentyrch, Vale of Glamorgan. “The walling looks fantastic a transformation – a joy to behold!”

A rough and potentially dangerous wall taken down and rebuilt. Great to do dry stone walling in the heart of Pontcanna Cardiff – Summer 2022

Dry stone wall complete rebuild in Cwmcarn below Forest Drive June 2022

Great work. I will recommend our neighbours contact you. Their old radyr stone wall collapsed in the storm last week – early victorian garden wall in Pontcanna

PS My other half has just finished building a garden pond. We have several bags of bits of slate – off cuts, not chippings. Could you use them at all?

Thanks for the recommendation Iona. And thanks for the slate offer – sadly I will decline as I currently lack storage space. Hope the pond turned out well. I’m a big fan for having them in a garden.

Great work on our boundary wall in Radyr in Jan/Feb 2021. Excellent work in some pretty apalling weather. It looks beautiful. We will look at it every day from our kitchen.

Good afternoon, Richard
I would like my front of house boundary wall repaired. There is a selection close to the house that is missing approx 4’x 6’. The stone appears to be a pebble rag type and sourcing the stone is proving difficult. The house is in Rhiwbina, Cardiff.
I can send photos for you to view.
Many thanks if you could help.
Best, Lee
